What's been going on...

I've been gone for a while and, well, a lot has happened.

Ever since January, I've done a lot of things. To be honest, it's all been chaotic and I haven't done as much as I wanted when it comes to writing.

I started writing short stories. I actually finished one, no such luck with the rest. "Sandman" is something I'm actually proud of, it's rather short but that was the requirement for a contest I tried my luck in. It was not published or anything, but the editor of the company organising the contest took her time to edit the story anyway. That was amazing. I tried writing other short stories but I didn't finish them, didn't have time.

There was also a point when I just didn't have much motivation. Not for work, not for writing, not for arts. I wrote a post but I didn't publish it, I didn't have the art to go with it and just couldn't bring myself to draw anything. And I didn't want to publish anything without an art again. But I managed to pull myself together.

I continue creating my language. I've got around 60 words now, and grammar's done. At least the basics of it. Progress, I guess. I'm not satisfied though.

I'm working on something that might be a book someday. The universe I'm creating for my stories expanded so much and I've got more and more ideas. The idea I had earlier, I still like it very much but... I've got an idea for a prequel. And I built the main character already and I love her. My best character so far. At least, the idea of her. I still haven't written her. But the problem with writing the story with Nike (the new awesome character) is that I've still got too much to figure out.

The whole idea is, there's a secret organisation of sorts. Nike's gonna go up in hierarchy against all odds, become a legend. But I can't write that if I don't have any understanding of how the organisation works. I've got the basics but I can't write anything yet. But I love the idea so much!!

The idea of an organisation... I had found a podcast, "Operation Midnight Climax" (iHeartRadio). It's about a secret CIA operation in the 1950s and it had me hooked. Some people might not be interested in those topics (testing LSD on unsuspecting people) but that was just so new and different I just had to know more. And so I thought, what if the community of witches I was going to write about was in fact a secret organisation? And then my mind just... blew. I mean, with ideas.

But there was also a major change that's not related to writing.

I changed my diet. I know, how is it a big change? For some, it might not be, for me? Huge. I have eczema, something that just sucks. Basically, my skin is super dry and itchy and if I don't take care of it, it can just crack open and then there's a wound. That happened to me only once, and honestly, screw that. My mom was researching autoimmune diseases (which are caused by the immune system working too much and attacking the body's cells. From what I know, eczema is one of those diseases) and turns out that there's a better way to fight them than all those medications.

That way is, drumroll please, better habits. Easy as that. Sleeping like a normal human being, eating healthily, exercising, using natural products, developing a routine. It sounds like bull but her sources are pretty legit. My family (and I) love to rely on facts, not some people who don't know what they're talking about, so she found actual doctors talking about all that.

So I decided to give it a try. After all, where's the harm? I could actually cure eczema, I don't care if it's fully or not. So I did that, step by step I started eating more vegetables and more fruit, stopped eating cheese, and now I don't think about what's healthy. I just know not to eat certain things, I don't have the appetite for them. Once I thought life without chocolate is impossible, now I just don't wanna eat it. Hah, to be honest, the change is crazy big. But guess what? My skin IS getting better!

I also go cycling every morning, which feels great. And I got vaccinated so that's great!

I just need to figure out my writing, start doing it again, and it's gonna be awesome!

To anyone reading this, stay safe. There's still COVID and it's better safe than sorry, right? I know everyone just wants everything to go back to normal, but if we're cautious a bit more, we might actually beat that awful pandemic.

Peace,

Steph
